The research primarily focuses on livestock health management, animal welfare, parasitology, disease prevention and the animal microbiome.

The primary species studied are cattle, swine, poultry and sheep.  Livestock production is essential to the nation's food supply.  Our research investigates effective means of disease prevention thereby improving animal welfare, and  minimizing production losses.   Our studies focus on improving animal welfare and controlling animal diseases that impact agriculture. Additionally, our investigations provide insight into microbiome and disease establishment that is applicable to improving public health. Our lines of research are usually conducted in collaboration with programs and individuals within the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, in the University at large, and at other national as well as international sites.
