Nutritional Sciences
We focus on optimizing diets for livestock to improve sustainability of the industry and animal well-being.
We investigate the dietary requirements for specific nutrients (such as amino acids and minerals) that allow animals to produce healthy offspring and grow most efficiently. We explore the possibility of feed additives, including dietary probiotics and prebiotics, enhancing animal production and reducing the use of pharmaceuticals in the industry. We study and develop different methods of processing and storing plant materials for use in animal diets.
